FreshStart

Liberal Democrat Stephen Gilbert was the only one of St Austell's five parliamentary candidates to be at a recent [06.05.08] Council meeting that was held to look at the issues around the controversial FreshStart project planned for the town.

Stephen Gilbert questioned those running the scheme on its location, the level of security on the site, and on how they will ensure that the people who go through the project are properly assessed for their suitability.

Stephen Gilbert said: "I have always said that I support this project in principle, but where local residents have specific concerns I will raise them and that's what I was doing last night. I was reassured by most of the answers to my questions but, frankly, the proof of the pudding will be in the eating and I will be watching closely as this project unfolds."
