Newwquay Lib Dems celebrate new office

Local Liberal Democrat members in Newquay were today joined by the town's MP Dan Rogerson, former MP Paul Tyler and Parliamentary candidate Stephen Gilbert, for the official opening of the party's first ever permanent office in Newquay.

Based in the workshops off Clevedon Road, near the town's football club, the new office facility will serve as a base for the party's activities in Newquay and across the wider area.

Stephen Gilbert, Newquay's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate, said: "The Liberal Democrats are the only party championing the issues that matter to residents in Newquay. Whether it is campaigning for tougher controls on lap-dancing, improving the town's railway station and train service, fighting for more affordable homes and a limit the number of second homes, or protecting the headlands from over development, we will continue to lead the agenda in the town and tackle the issues that matter to local people."

Dan Rogerson, MP for North Cornwall, said: "I am delighted that for the first time we now have a permanent base in Newquay and I would like to thank those supporters who have donated their time and money to make it happen."

The Liberal Democrats will be running two advice surgeries each month for people who may need help or guidance or want to raise a specific issue of concern. The office will be open to the public on the first and third Friday of each month, between 4.30 and 6pm.

Stephen Gilbert added: "We are here to help and if anyone wants advice or wishes to raise a grumble with us then please do drop in and see us."

The address of the office is: Liberal Democrats, Unit 4, The Workshops; Off Clevedon Road; Newquay; Cornwall; TR7 2BU.
